Two men are in jail charged with thefts from storage units early yesterday morning.
At approximately 2:30 am yesterday morning Off. Brandon Curry observed a suspicious vehicle at the Econo Storage Facility on Riverside Drive. He went to investigate further and located open storage units as well as two individuals. Both were detained and carried to the Police Department for further questioning by Investigators.
As a result of the investigation Justin Fernando Merritt, age 27, and Monsijour Jamaal Merritt, age 30, were charged with burglary and grand larceny. They are reported to be cousins. In addition to these charges, Justin Merritt was charged with possessing a firearm after being convicted of a felony and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
Monsijour Merritt is currently being held in the Danville City Jail under a $15,000 secured bond. Justin Merritt is currently being held in the Danville City Jail under no bond. The investigation is continuing.
